Our policy agendas are developed based on one core principle: the people who are closest to a problem are the ones closest to its solution. We believe that our communities know what they need to be able to thrive, and a policy agenda is a list of those needs, politically translated. At CAIP, the core of our work has been to work with grassroots and left-flank organizations to create policy agendas match their values while being both visionary and strategic.
Rather than seeing policy as a place where radical ideas go to die, we refuse to concede this space. Instead we work with our partners’ stakeholders to develop demands that are accountable to the communities we serve, are honest about what policy can accomplish — and what it cannot — and make sure our people are using all the tools at our disposal towards imagining a just world.
Some examples of policy agendas we’ve developed with our clients:
Turning the Tide: Bayou City Waterkeeper | 2025
It Ends with Us: March for Our Lives | 2021
URGE: A Young People’s Reproductive Justice Policy Agenda | 2020
Girls for Gender Equity | 2017
